Gaskins Pasture Cemetery

Found  in the mid 1970s by Preston Cadenhead who was hunting on the land and stumbled onto the graves.  In 1992, he took other family members to the site:  Victoria Cadenhead Livingston, her daughter Stacy; Julia T Cadenhead; and Jason Cadenhead.  Julia recorded the names and words found on the headstones as follows:  there were approximately ten to twelve grave sites but not all had markers.  Preston told the group he had found at one of the graves a  wooden headboard which read, “Cadenhead – killed by Injuns”  This headboard was gone when the group visited the site in 1992.

Directions:  Approx  one mile north of Laurel Hill on Hwy 85 North.  Turn left; go about one mile.  Site is on the left about ¼ mile in the middle of a field not too far from an old barn.  Some trees and small brush had grown up thru one or two of the grave sites.

For the 1992 visit, permission to go on the land was obtained from Mr. Campbell’s descendant.  It is quite possible this is also the site also  found by Rebecca Burns.
