This is where you may post queries, photos, and other items of interest. Also, please remember that this site is searchable.

Please submit your items:

You may drop items off at the museum to be included here. That would be the preferred way, however if you are from out of town simply e-mail them to either  Mary Ellen Wexler: Xme@wexonline.net or Jerry Champion: Xjcham90528@aol.com

You must remove the leading "X"  in the address. It has been put there for security purposes and the subject should be: "Item for Bulletin Board" so we will know that you are sending an attachment.

There is a homestead at T1N-R20W Section 32, the main landowners in that area are Daniel Sanford, William Sanford, James Reddick, H. W. Reddick, J. D. Shaw, Hiram Spears, Horace Godwin, Malcolm Shaw, and Matthew Cauley.  If anyone is a descendant of one of these folks, or knows anything about a homestead in theis are,  James Mathews who is working on the archeaology of Eglin, would like to talk to you.  He may be reached at Prentice Thomas Associates: 850-243-5992. He is interested inhearing about any homesteader who lived within the Eglin reserve, so please call him.

Hi. I am researching my gg grandfather Jim Taylor. He was married to Adeline "Daught" Steele and they lived in Laurel Hill. Adeline was born in 1858 and died in 1946. Not much is known about Jim. Family lore says that he had a job at the post office in Laurel Hill but got into trouble there and fled to Texas leaving his family behind. I know nothing of his parentage. I am including the wedding pictures of Jim and Adeline's two sons Josephus born in 1890 and Henry Herbert born in 1893. I have found Adeline in the 1885 census as single and in the 1900 census with just she and the boys. I have been unable to find Jim Taylor on any record. I am hoping to visit your facility in March. I live in Pennsylvania.
Thank you so much,
Rene Schaffer
