Heritage Park Dedication

The dedication of the Heritage park took place as have most recent events, at the Helms Cabin Donated by Danny Hill, descendant of the Hutto and Helms clans of the area. The North Okaloosa Heritage Association and the Museum staff carefully orchestrated a well kept secret for the two people who made the museum and park possible; Jeanette and Charles Henderson. They were aware that there would be a ceremony and that friends from the City, State and County would be on hand. What they did not know was that the park would be named for them.

Hence forth the name of the park at the Baker Block Museum will be "The Jeanette and Charles Henderson Heritage Park." A well deserved honor for two tireless parents. Joyce Blalock was instrumental in making the sale happen along with State Rep. Greg Evers and others. I believe after 3 weeks, they have almost forgiven their friends and relatives for their deceit and for what they consider embarrassment. Their humbleness does not allow them to realize how much the community values their hard work and dedication. I cannot think of a better name for the park, nor more deserving people!
