First Okaloosa County Courthouse

The first Okaloosa County courthouse was built at Crestview in 1918 and located on the same site that it is today. The land was donated by W.J. Rice and H.J. Brett, who were early land developers and businessmen in the area. Crestview had been named the Okaloosa County seat during an election held in 1917. a run-off was required between the towns of Crestview and Baker for the honor.
