Locals:

Messrs. TJ Walden, T Everett and H Everett leave today for the direction of Sandy Mountain, for a few days’ hunt.

Mr. John Crary, our tonsorial artist, has a fine bannana (sic) tree in his garden, on which there hangs a bunch containing 50 young specimens of that delicious fruit.

Dr. Elliot will preach in the Presbyterian Church the next two Sabbaths. All who enjoyed his sermon last Sunday, on Christian unity, will be glad to hear him again.

A number of local gentlemen shouldered their guns yesterday morning and started in the direction of Sandy Mountain, in quest of elephants, lions or any other small animals. The following comprise the party: JB Cawthon; MTW Cawthon; H Wolf; Mr. Fulton; A Faye; WL Cawthon.

The Jewish feast of Purim commenced Monday and ends tonight. A feature of this feast is the distribution of gifts to the poor and donations for the establishing of schools in sections inhabited by the Jews. There being no Israelites in DeFuniak, the feast was not observed here.

Mr. John Crary, one of our sports, paid a visit to Shoal river last week and shipped home three fine wild turkeys. We anticipate a feast, for Johnny came marching home this morning with a bevy of Quail and a suspicious looking box, but perhaps anticipation in this case will be greater than participation.

LE Galloway of the Signal enters plea for folks from Walton County to gather items that are grown in the county as well as samples of the grasses, minerals and other natural things to be exhibited at the Permanent South Exhibit in Raleigh, NC.
