Proceedings of the Board of County Commissioners at their Meeting held
June 4, 1894
Minutes of last meeting read and approved. The account of TM King for
services as Treasurer of School Board was laid over for further
investigation.
The Board approved several accounts of Clerk, Sheriff, and County
Judge, in state cases to be paid by state. Also the feed bills of the
Sheriff for the months of Mar., Apr. and May for feed of prisoners.
The account of County Judge, in case of state vs Jno. Hutto, was
rejected.
An Order passed at a former meeting granting a public road, from
Shipyard Point to intersect the public road leading from Freeport to
Portland near Caswell's, was revoked, and a petition granted to opern a
public road from Freeport to Ship-Yard Point; said road to begin on
south of Four-mile creek opposite Freeport, and DA McLean, Charles
Bauler, and Malcom McCaskill, were appointed to view and mark out said
route.
A Petition was granted to change that part of the public road running
by Wood's mill to run on the old road leading from Wood's cor. to JH
Busbaas. (Perhaps should be "Busbee.")
Apetition was granted, declaring Crescent street between Chautaqua
hotel, and AJ Griffin's a public highway, to extend across the railroad
to intersect Baldwin Avenue.
An order was passed relieving the Florida Chautauqua Association from
the payment county part of the tax for the year 1892 as certified to
state April 1893, and the clerk instructed to notify the Comptroller of
same, and recommend that they be relieved of the state tax.
The county judge reported $1.38 collected during the month of May for
county license.
On motion, the proposition of JH Kruse, to estend the sewer pipe 500
feet, and connect the rain water from the NE cor. of jail building with
sewer pipe now there for $106.00 was accepted. For want of space the
list of warrants issue, are not published.
DeFuniak Publishing Company to apply for incorporation to publish a
newspaper or newspapers, do a general printing, etc. LJ Reeves, JL
Campbell, JA McLean, JG McLean, JT Stubbs, DG McLeod, Geo. W Crawford,
JC McSween of Defuniak; Daniel Campbell, Eucheeanna; JJ McCaskill, DA
McLean, CD Monroe, JB Williams of Freeport; JH Richbourg, JD McCrimmon
of Crestview are "subscribers to this notice and charter."
